Black Jade is the deep, inky green our stylists reach for when a client wants the hold of a scrunchie without the crease, the snag, or the 3 a.m. headache. Drowsy spins theirs from 22-momme mulberry silk over a plush padded core, so it hugs a topknot the way a good pillow hugs your head. Thick hair, fine hair, freshly installed extensions: this is the one we tie our own hair up with before we head out to Crab Island.

Why silk, and why 22-momme

Cotton and cheap elastics grip the cuticle and drag on it every time you move. Silk slides instead. At 22-momme (that number is the density of the weave, and it is a genuinely luxe one), the surface is smooth enough to cut the friction that frays ends and roughs up your color. You wake up with fewer flyaways, softer lengths, and none of that dented ponytail line.

How to use

Gather hair into a loose bun or low pony and wrap the scrunchie two or three times, letting the padded silk sit soft rather than tight. For the overnight benefit, tie it up before bed and let it protect your ends while you sleep. In the morning, release for a gentle, undented wave. It works just as well as a daytime piece when you want polish without effort.

Care

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle cleanser, press out the excess, and lay flat to dry. Keep it away from heat and harsh detergent so the silk stays supple wash after wash.
