What to Expect at Your First Consultation

If you've never had hair extensions before, the first visit can feel like a small mystery. You're handing someone your hair, your time, and a fair bit of hope. So before you ever sit in our chair, it helps to know exactly how the consultation goes — what we look at, what we ask, and how we arrive at a plan that actually fits your life.

Why we start with a consultation, not an install

Extensions are a relationship, not a one-time purchase. The wrong method on the wrong hair shows up fast: tension at the scalp, bonds that slip, color that reads off in daylight. A proper hair extension consultation in Destin exists to make sure none of that happens to you. We'd rather spend an unhurried session understanding your hair than rush you into an install that looks beautiful for a week and frustrating for a season.

This is also where honesty lives. Sometimes the most useful thing we can tell a guest is "not yet," or "let's correct your color first," or "a different method will serve you better." You'll always leave with a clear answer, even when that answer takes a little patience.

What Tania actually assesses

A good consultation is mostly listening and looking closely. Here's what we're reading while we talk.

• Your hair history. Past color, lightening, keratin treatments, previous extensions, any breakage or damage. What your hair has been through tells us what it can comfortably hold now.
• Density and texture. How much natural hair you have, how fine or coarse each strand is, where it's thinner, and how it falls. Density is what determines whether a method will sit invisibly or peek through.
• Your lifestyle. How you wear your hair day to day, whether you're in the Gulf and the pool all summer, how much morning time you realistically have, how often you can come back for maintenance. The most elegant install in the world fails if it doesn't suit how you actually live.
• Your goals. Length, fullness, a little of both, or simply hair that finally behaves. We want the picture in your head — bring photos, even imperfect ones.
• Color match. Extensions have to melt into your own tone in real light, not just under salon bulbs. We assess whether your current color is ready, or whether a balayage or blonding session should come first so everything reads seamless.

From there, we talk method.
