Liis Candle Bo

Bo is the one our stylists light behind the chair when they want the room to feel like somewhere. Smoky woods, a curl of incense, and a soft finish of vanilla settle into the air within minutes, and the space stops feeling like a shop and starts feeling like a hideaway. LIIS built this scent around a coastal artist enclave, all weathered redwood and warm resin, and it reads beautifully on the Emerald Coast, where the light is long and the days run slow.

The scent

It opens bright and a little green, with elemi and dried tobacco leaves, then eases into redwood pine and incense at the heart. The base is where Bo really settles in: guaiac wood, cedar, and vanilla beans, so the smokiness never turns sharp. Think lightly-toasted woods softened with something sweet and lived-in. It fills a room without shouting, which is exactly why it earns a spot in a bedroom, a reading corner, or a bathroom you actually want to linger in.

How it’s made

Each candle is hand-poured from a soy and coconut wax blend with a cotton wick, so it burns clean and even. It lives in LIIS’s signature smoked-glass vessel, which looks as good unlit on a shelf as it does glowing at dusk. You get roughly 50 to 60 hours from the 8 oz size, and the empty glass is lovely for brushes, cotton rounds, or a few stems once the wax is gone.

How to use

• On the first burn, let the wax pool all the way to the edge, about two to three hours. This sets the memory and prevents tunneling.
• Trim the wick to a quarter inch before every light for a steady, soot-free flame.
• Keep each session under four hours, and burn away from drafts, kids, and anything that catches.
